Live preview not working

Hi! Just noting that making my port public (and visiting on different devices than the one running IDX) did not solve it for me.

I am seeing “Unable to decode current host” on my other devices, so the port does appear to be publicly accessible, just displaying the same error message. Is there anything that I might have done wrong?

EDIT: Reporting back that in addition to making the port public, I had to restart the dev preview in a new tab (not keep refreshing the old one). Thanks!

I have the same problem with angular, i run ng serve and when i try to open the preview is the same message

Unable to decode current host

I try to delete the cookies, sign out and sign in again but the problem isn’t solve, heeeelp

So, making port public did solve the issue but this wasn’t required before.
Also, I noticed around the same time a second port being added while being nowhere in my dev.nix config file:

Port 3000 is the one configured, but where does this 6001 port come from? Could this be related somehow?

On macOS 15.3 (24D60), I have discovered that utilizing Cloudflare Warp or a VPN software can resolve the issue.

Where is this configuration option, inside the IDX environment or other?

[Edit] Just found it. Here it is for the people who needs…It solved the issue for me too.

Thanks!!

Tried everything here and no success.

Yes, this is nearing the “it just doesn’t work” phase. Changing the security on the preview page is not a real solution. And I have deleted all of my cookies here on Vimium. All of my google and cloudworkstations.dev cookies. Signed out. Closed the browser even. That stop gap (because it’s not a real solution either) did work on FireFox but did not work on Vimium. Whatever the change was to the security model, I doubt it will happen but I’m going to recommend rolling it back until you have a better idea of a real solution. Perhaps one that doesn’t rely on cookies?

I’m really hoping this gets escalated because I’m really enjoying IDX overall.

Guys do we have any ETA for this? It’s been 4 days!
@kirupa

12 days. Firefox browser stop gap is working in the meantime. I develop in Vivaldi, preview in FF. Pretty lame but still doable. Gemini may be the focus right now(it is pretty awesome! ).

guys, web view is online or atleast the port

the web preview is still not working,
any thories

it works in blank project or the newly created project

but not in already created project

anyone please solves this issue. How to resolve this. why it’s always happening with developers.

guys
interactive chat and gemini is not working as well
can anyone please direct me to a thread for this
if its already existing

I feel your pain, but your should start a new top-level thread for this problem. This helps the right visibility both for your problem and for this thread’s problem. I am not an admin so I can’t just do it myself but perhaps you could manually redo it.

Hi folks, we believe the fix was rolled out. Please let us know if anyone still experiences this.

not resolved, my all projects are still not previewing the emulator.

I can confirm that YES it is indeed WORKING for me! Great job everyone, thank you so much! I’m sorry I couldn’t get back to you earlier, I had an ER visit and then emergency tooth extraction and couldn’t check the fix. No funding sucks (especially for my teeth…), which is why your free tier service is so important to those of us with limited means!

This thread’s issue is about the web preview with the error code “Unable to decode current host” when using the web preview. Are you referring to an actual emulator problem proper, or did you mean that you are still getting the “Unable to decode…” error in the web preview?
