Gitlab and Bitbucket support available now! 🔥

Hi everybody - one of our top requested features revolves around supporting Gitlab and Bitbucket repositories! We pushed a change a few moments ago where you now have early support for it.

My video below goes into more detail:

There is still more work to be done to improve some fit-and-finish issues, and we’ll be tackling those over the upcoming days.

Please try this out and reply back with your thoughts

Cheers,
Kirupa

Hello @kirupa I am having an issue when I want to import project in a subgroup in GitLab the url format is:

https://gitlab.com/{parentGroup}/{subGroup}/{repo}

IDX import page mark it as invalid url.

Irving - thanks for flagging this! This seems like a bug. Can you please file a quick bug report here: https://issuetracker.google.com/issues/new?component=1379083&template=1836320

Can you also share the full repo URL (provided it is ok to post publicly)? We can use that to test our change.

Please reply back once you’ve filed the report with the issue tracker URL. I’ll tag the right people to help investigate this.

Thanks,
Kirupa

Hello Kirupa, thanks for answer,

I open the bug report: Google Issue Tracker

I set it also in the ticket but you can use https://gitlab.com/irving-public-repos/test-projects/tesing for test, is a public empty repository but shows the same error message.

Thanks!

SSH does not seem to work for Bitbucket? Also when we install the Bitbucket extension we cant auth…so it does not work…

@Jon_Petrie - something seems to have regressed here. We’ll take a look momentarily. Please file a bug to help ensure it gets wider attention: https://issuetracker.google.com/issues/new?component=1379083&template=1836320

Thanks,
Kirupa

Hey Kirupa! I was wondering if IDX templates will also be (or are already suppose to be) supported for GitLab?

Currently, I am able to import repositories from both GitHub and GitLab fine. However, IDX templates are only working with GitHub it seems, not GitLab. So, I’m not sure if this is a bug, or a matter of deciding whether to support templates more broadly. Below are a few examples.

Example 1:

Example 2:

In both cases above, the GitHub links lead to a valid screen to create a workspace from the template. On the other hand, both GitLab links lead to an error, screenshot below:

Thanks in advance for any help with this!
