I am getting the error while importing my repo in IDX, this issue is being so persistent that I could not do any developement. Is it same with everyone?
Same thing has been happening to me for the last 12 hours. Is there no solution?

No sir, I do not use VPN.
My project did not open despite trying many times. I wish you could add download project directly to the open project button on the main screen. I am waiting for your help.

I think @romannurik and @Alex had looked at the showing/hiding terminal in the past. They may have some workarounds.
i have the same issue, im not using VPN
I had that, but rebuilt the dev.nix after making an non-functional change and it was resolved. I saw that somewhere else and it worked for me.

I just came across this issue of not being able to get the terminal up,
I did a idx rebuild environment from the command palette to get it working.
then I lost localhost:5555, doing adb connect localhost:5555
, brought the emulator back
