Gemini IDX stopped working a week ago, or so

Hi all, it’s geen a week or so since Gemini IDX stopped working on my IDX. I have Gemini Advanced, but it doesn’t seem to apply to this product. Anyhow, when I try to run gemini within my IDX project, it gets stuck on “Generating…” and it never ends. Is it something that I’m doing wrong, or is this a bug? Please advise, cheers!

for regular Gemini,
It disappeared for me too recently, I found I needed to turn Gemini API back on.

Does this mean that i need to pay for google cloud, or my personal gemini advanced is good enough to use this API? Thanks!

There’s a good chance I don’t know what I am talking about because I just opened another workspace and it didn’t have the extension loaded yet I could still get to a Gemini chat window

Hi @Ariston - if you would like to use our AI assistance (code completion, chat, and related features), they should just work. There is nothing additional you need to do. We use our own internal Gemini account, so your personal account’s Gemini details won’t have any impact. Is your observation that AI assistance is no longer working?

The Integrations panel where you authenticate with Gemini is only needed if you plan to build apps that will require the Gemini API key to be provisioned.

exactly. I write a prompt within IDX and it gets stuck on this step below (Generating…), and it never ends.

don’t worry about it, that’s why we’re here to learn some new cool stuff, haha :slight_smile:

I really like the gemini integration and would love to get it working again. I am totally into prompt engineering and am learning good practices with it, and IDX is a perfect playground for it.
